Osmo UVIWAX is an attractive water based wood finish suitable for interior use which offers long term UV protection designed to significantly reduce the natural yellowing of wood. The product is quick drying, does not crack, flake, peel or blister and is water repellant and dirt resistant, safe for use with children's toys. Osmo UVIWAX UV-Protection is a water based wood finish designed for interior use but with unique long term UV protection and excellent water repellent and dirt resistance properties. It is quick drying and low odour and does not crack, flake, peel or blister. The natural yellowing of wood is drammatically reduced and pale wood species retain their light coloured finish for longer.
Product Description:
Available in clear or white spruce transparent, it has a satin wood finish with a wax-like character for the interior. Osmo Uviwax® UV-Protection is resistant to dirt, water and abrasion and smoothens the surface. When dry, finish is safe for humans, animals and plants and is suitable for children's toys as per EN 71.3 (European norm) and is saliva-resistant and sweatproof according to DIN 53160 (German industrial norm).
Osmo Uviwax® UV-Protection shields the lignin in the wood against the harmful UV rays hence the natural yellowing of wood is greatly reduced, and the natural,light-coloured wood colour tone is preserved for a longer time.
Recommended Uses:
Osmo Uviwax® UV-Protection is suitable as a self-priming finish for interior wall and ceiling panelling as well as cabinets and doors. It is also suitable for recoating sawn edges, screw holes, additional mouldings, boards etc. that were factory finished with Osmo Uviwax® UV-Protection. Suitable for all non-resinous wood species. Please note its not suitable for exterior applications.
Coverage:
1 litre covers approx. 16 m² with one coat. Product coverage depends significantly on the character of the wood. All information refers to smooth and planed/cut surfaces. Other surfaces may lead to reduced coverage.
Storage:
Osmo UVIWAX can be kept for up to 2 years if can is kept dry, closed tightly and stored at temperatures between 5°C and 35°C. Do not expose to frost during transport and storage.
Surface Preparation:
Wood surface must be clean, dry and frost-free (moisture content max. 18%, coating temperature at least +10°C). Osmo Uviwax® UV-Protection is ready to use, please do not thin. Stir well before use. Clean old microporous stains thoroughly. Old paints and lacquers must be completely removed. As a general rule, wear a dust mask during sanding works.
Degrease very resinous woods (e.g. Larch) with Osmo Brush Cleaner and Thinner. Osmo Uviwax® UV-Protection is a self-priming finish which can be applied solely to raw wood. If necessary, sand wood again with fine sandpaper. Wood treated with Osmo Uviwax® UV-Protection generally only need to be cleaned and recoated.
The finished surface is, among other things, influenced by the wood's natural characteristics, therefore, a trial application should always be carried out, particularly on unfamiliar surfaces.
Methods of Application:
Osmo UVIWAX should be applied thinly, quickly and evenly to the clean and dry wood along the wood grain with a suitable brush and spread well, or apply by using a spray method. Allow to dry for approx. 3-4 hours with good ventilation. If necessary, sand surface with fine sandpaper (P 360) before applying the second coat. After drying, apply a second coat also thinly and quickly. When renovating, one coat applied to the clean and dry surface is usually sufficient.
