This cooker hood had clear instructions. Unfortunately they are wrong. As a result installing this was a nightmare

I bought the 80cm version. DO NOT USE THE WALL FIXINGS SUPPLIED. They are rubbish and my extractor fell off the wall. The screws aren't long or thick enough. Now for the fan noise. Everything is good up to speed 4. 5 make the hood vibrate and so does 6. 7 it eases off a bit and 8 and 9 are fine. Also the chimney rattles terribly and that's with it all screwed to the wall as suggested. My answer to this was an 18cm piece of wood inserted as a brace at the top of the chimney. Now for quality control. When I first turned the extractor on there was a metallic banging inside the motor. I took the ducting off and turned it on and out flew a small screw. The exact type that holds the extractor together. All in all it's OK. That vibration at speeds 5 and 6 really lets it down. Would I recommend it? No I wouldn't. I would buy something else. My problem I was limited to an 80cm hood.

Thanks for sharing such detailed feedback, and we’re really sorry to hear about the issues you’ve run into. The fixings included with the hood are standard ones and are best suited for solid walls. On surfaces like thick plaster (old or new) or softer materials, they sometimes aren't suitable and longer fixings should be used to ensure that the plugs are seated into a solid substrate. It’s also worth making sure the holes are drilled cleanly and to the right size, as loose or oversized holes can cause the fixings to fail. As for the vibrations, these are often down to the type of ducting used. The hood is designed to work with 150mm ducting, ideally no longer than 4m (and each 90-degree bend counts as 1m). Using smaller ducting or a reducer can cause turbulence and back pressure, which often leads to extra noise and vibration. We’ll also pass your quality control comments on to the right team. Your feedback is really helpful to us and we appreciate you taking the time to let us know.
