Coolant Reroute Kit MX5 Mk2/2.5 LHD Reviews

Developed by IL Motorsport, this high quality reroute kit is the perfect answer to the poor coolant flow problem. Mazda's "in the front out the front" approach means that cylinder number four is never properly cooled. This uneven temperature can cause all kinds of issue such as premature engine wear, carbon build up, failed piston rings, and incorrect emissions readings.Well, not any more! This kit converts the engine so the coolant flows in through the front of the engine and out through t back, resulting in all four cylinders being cooled to the same temperature. Even in high load situations the temperature stays stable and in turn helps keep the oil temperature more stable. Also, because of the more consistent temperatures the engine management receives more accurate air fuel mixture data which is particularly important for forced induction engines. The kit is supplied with everything you need including fitting instructions. It even has the positions for the temp sensors in the same place so there is no need to extend any wiring.Check out this awesome video on how to fit this kit!Fits all 1.8 Mk1 models 1993>1998 and all 1.6 & 1.8 Mk2 & 2.5 models 1998>2005

Bought this kit over a year ago with the intention of fitting during my MK1 1.8 NA restoration. just on the last stage, Tried fitting this kit, it does not fit a RHD MX5 1.8. it needs some major re engineering. It will not clear the clutch master cylinder to slave pipe work, fouls the speedo cable, as well as the wiring to the fan sensor clearance to CAS bolt. Wish I had read the reviews prior to purchase, could have spent the money on other much needed parts. Only useful fitted to a LHD vehicle or kit car using MX5 running gear in my humble opinion

So this kit does not fit the 1.8 NA mx5 very well at all silicon hose hits the clutch master cylinder so I ended up cutting the end off The aluminium thermostat housing and welding a new pipe on at a different angle to miss it

I bought this directly from IL, so nothing mx5parts can do about it.But there are so many problems with this kit that I want to share them.First of all the quality of the aluminium parts is... well... Could be much better, sharp edges etc at every single bit of this kit. But I could live with that, but overall the kit simply doesnt fit into an original 1.8 as the video provided by IL shows.Impossible to fit with the original EGR. To original pipe is exactly where the biggest part of this kit is meant to go.So either get rid of the EGR or get an expensive flexible rod. After fitting the kit the plug for the temp sensor collides with the long screw of the Camshaft Angle Position. So you have to get rid of that long screw...The support for the new hose running from the back to the front is very hard to fit.The gas lines collide with it, the one for venting the tank has to be rerouted. But one thing not solved yet which is the biggest problem: the cable for the accelerator touches the new hose permanently, not a bit, a lot!So just a question of time that either one wears of and breaks, and presumably the throttle response will be very bad.So overall nice idea, but surely not designed well, and presumably impossible to fit into an original 1.8 without the need to modify plenty of bits and pieces.
