“The belt was so tight it was a struggle to get on, even with the alternator fully slackened off. After around 3 hours of use it pulled the bolts out of my crank pulley and cut some deep groves into my timing covers. I have since fitted the IL motorsport belt and have had no issues. I spoke to MX5 parts and they said they have not had any other reports like this. Perhaps I had a badly manufactured one. Would have been nice to have been offered a refund though! To be safe I would avoid and spend the extra couple of quid on an IL belt.”

“The belt arrived quickly. However, it was labelled "air con belt" and given that it was toothed (unlike my existing alternator belt) I was not certain whether I had been sent the correct part, which delayed things. MX5 Parts quickly replied to my email when I emailed them the next day to confirm that it was was the correct belt; however, the original confusion wasted time. I feel that parts should be labelled unambiguously.”

“This new belt was smaller than my old belt which was a SP A 34.7 The only way I could get it to fit was to take the Water pump pully off and put the belt around all the other pullys as well as the water pump pully, then refix the water pully.”

“Bought in Feb 2010 (usual excellent service from MX5 Parts) and eventually fitted in July 2011. Seemed to be wearing very quickly and squealing. Adjusted numerous times and always adjusted to correct tension but it eventually wore through and failed on a very wet M25 after less than 3000 miles.”

“Courroie usée en 800 kms!! malgré les réajustement de tension (jusqu'à arriver en butée) elle n'a jamais cessée de s'user au bout d'un certain temps.Remplacée par une ILM et plus de problème depuis.”
