Camshaft Timing Belt Top quality aftermarket replacement timing belt. It is recommended that this should be replaced every 60,000 miles or 6 years. It is also advisable to change the tensioner and idler pulleys, the tensioner spring and the cam cover gasket at the same time so why not go for a complete kit!Fits all Mk1, Mk2 & 2.5 models, 1989>2005

I fitted this during a water-pump replacement as the same belt was on it as when I purchased my Mk1, 150,000 km ago. I expected the old belt (solid ace) to be well-worn but it looked like new, not a hint of cracking or exposed braiding. To be honest, I nearly left the old one on as the brand new one has visible braiding on its edges while the original is moulded over the braiding. Nonetheless, the new belt fitted perfectly and seems solid. Incidentally, if, as I did, you get in a pickle with the crank position (I rotated mine without the lock-key in place and got it out-of-sinc with the cam pulleys) just follow the marking instructions in your workshop manual. Although four-stroke engines have distinct inlet and exhaust TDCs, these designations only apply when the belt is on. If the belt is off and you position the crank and inlet pulleys to their TDC markings, the engine cannot be out of phase - it took me a little while to work this out and stop worrying about it.

Good product and in stock so picked it up the same day. Just remember the correct torque settings otherwise the job takes much longer and you look stupid. Does what it says on the box.
