Easy-ish to fit if you have some skills on the tools, get a decent spring compressor. Rear shocks removable by disconnecting the ARB, rear lower link (undo the eccentric bolt on the body end, then displace the link down, don't try and undo the hub end as you risk damaging the boot and the Haynes says the nut should be replaced if you undo it. Make sure you mark the position of the camber adjuster before you undo it). Front shocks remove the strut brace, remove the brake pipe brackets onto the upper arm and then the upper arm bolts to the body. Avoid overstressing the wheel speed sensor wire, you could also remove the sensor, mine looked like they had become part of the hub and I didn't want to risk removing the sensor lest I break it so I was just careful and didn't remove it. Top nut on the damper can be stuck so best to get it started with the shock still on the car. If you have a rattle gun this will make short work of it. With the shocks removed the rebuild is easy enough, you will need new rubber bushes and the rubber gaiters, and possibly bump stops too. Mine were all in a bad way. With new rubber bushes it's difficult to get the nut started on the damper rod but with someone assisting to press down the top washer and hold all the parts in line it's do-able. Ensure the eyelet at the bottom of the damper is correctly aligned with the top mount before you release the tension on the spring compressor as it's difficult to adjust once in place. The H&R springs are substantially shorter than the stock ones, mine was a sports model and the front springs were about 2/3 the length of the stock ones (uncompressed). I spoke with the lovely people at MX5 parts and they told me that the sport is already 10mm lower so should result in a 30mm drop - I would say in reality the ride has dropped around 40-50mm after fitting this kit, the car is now too low to get my trolley jack underneath the sill! So the drop amount for a car that had standard springs and dampers would be higher still. So one star off for the unexpected lowness. However, having driven the car the handling is undoubtedly improved (although I need to get an alignment first as the camber angle looks high now) and although the car is low, I have tried a few speed humps (gingerly) and it seems OK. I think a high curb would definitely catch the chin of the front bumper now and I certainly wont be straddling those low pyramid style speeds bumps in the centre of the road! It certainly looks more racey though! I think if I had known about the drop in height I probably would have gone for something a bit less low, but I think I can live with it. The ride quality is surprisingly good, it's definitely firm but it's not uncomfortable or unyielding (certainly no worse than the Bilsteins on there before) and now having dampers that actually damp make the handling so much better. Also the mystery suspension knock is now gone! It also makes the car feel faster as the back end no longer squats under power.
