Faulty EGR valves are a relatively common fault on the Mk2.5 and can be one of the causes of rough idle and lack of power during acceleration. It is also likely to put the engine management light on so if after a diagnostics check you get EOBDII code P1496 then it is likely to be this or the wiring to it that is at fault.Fits all 1.6 & 1.8 Mk2.5 models, 2000>2005 from chassis number 201262 onwards.
