Rain Rail IL Motorsport MX5 Mk1/2/2.5 Reviews

2.3 Rating 9 Reviews
Read MX5parts Reviews

High quality replacement rain rail made by IL Motorsport in Germany. This part sits behind the carpet on the rear of the parcel shelf and directs the water either side to the hood drains. The original rain rails were made of a hard plastic and rubber which deteriorated very quickly. Cracked and split rain rails still remain one of the biggest causes of water ingress into the cabin so as such we recommend that you replace this whenever the hood is changed, particularly on older cars. This IL Motorsport version is made from a rubberised plastic that can be bent in half hundreds of times without cracking so not only will it last longer than the original, at this price represents exceptional value for money.Fits all Mk1, Mk2 & 2.5 models, 1989>2005

Rubbish. Not fit for use. I took this rail to a professional trimmer to get my new roof installed, and he descried this part as "Unacceptably Poor". We ended up taping up my old rail rather than use this. It has unfinished edges that look like a really cheap casting, the rivet holes are not even close to matching up and the material is generally poor quality. Not worth ú30, let alone ú85. Not an improvement. Go for a genuine Mazda part.

After reading some reviews for this item, I was expecting it to be difficult to fit. But I found if you rivet it to the new hood (off the car) beforehand, it's very simple to fit with no leaks. A good price compared with the genuine Mazda part

Not fit for purpose. Simply doesn't fit. I expected it to be difficult relative to a genuine item given the price, but it really was useless and eventually went in the bin.

Yes difficult to fit. Involves a heat gun and much pushing and pulling and ultimately cursing. Next time I'll be ordering OEM.

Nowhere near the fit or quality of an OEM unit. Took me 3 hours to get the metal brackets back on over the top as this is so stiff and poorly formed. Noticeably a different shape the oem one. Did eventually get it to fit after getting a heat gun involved, but still extremely difficult. Would recommend OEM only

Price is important, that's what i thought, but you will really forget about it when you will have to first install this horrible and stiff rail on the hood, and then install the whole on your car. It took me a lot of time and sweat, a headache. Save some money to buy the genuine, could be easier to install

Difficult to fit. Fixing holes do not line up with the studs in the car, there seems to be too much plastic material on the inside, and because it is very stiff it is extremely difficult to push the retaining bars into place.Hope it stops the leaks...
