IL Motorsports catalytic convertor for the Mk2.Excellent upgrade from the standard unit, freer flowing, but also ideal if you just need a replacement cat as it's nearly 50% cheaper than Mazda's price! (£823.55)The Mk2 Cat is integral with the mid pipe and centre box, it runs all the way from the downpipe to the rear box. This part replaces this whole section and is supplied complete with all required fittings.Fits all Mazda MX5 Mk2's from 1998>2000, Manual Transmission Vehicles Only. Please note: As from August 2009, European legislation ruled that any catalytic convertor sold for use on a vehicle registered after March 1st 2001, must have 103R type approval to meet the lastest Euro standards. We can confirm that all our convertors are fully compliant with this.

“Fitted one a year ago, sailed through mot. 3 miles and 12 months later failed on emissions. Buy the really cheap one and replace it each year!”

“Just had my car MOT and despite fitting this a year ago, has failed emissions again for the fourth year running. thought as this is stainless would last more than infact only 8 months of road use as car was being fully resprayed for 4 months from December 2010 until March 2011. Had Mazda do an diagnostics test and car is running perfect, so quality of this must be poor......”

“In September 2008 I purchased a second hand MX5 which had had this system fitted to it in December 2007 with a mileage of 65,000 in order for it to get it through it's MOT. I have the original invoice from mx5 parts. A new coil pack had also been fitted to the car in March 2007.The readings for the MOT at Dec 2007 where.CO 0.119HC 12Lambda 0.996At the cars next MOT December 2008 with a mileage of 70,000 the readings whereCO 0.132HC 103Lambda 1.010At the cars next MOT December 2009 with a mileage of 76,000I don't have the read outs here but the car only just went through the MOT and I was told it would need replacing before the next MOT. This means it really only lasted just over 2 years where the original had lasted 9 years.I have just had the car MOT done and it did indeed fail as expected, I didn't fancy shelling out another £500 so the garage got me a cat made and cut it into the old system. Results are as followsCO 0.002HC 14Lambda 1.018Not sure if this helps or if anyone else has experienced similar issues just wanted to document my experiences to help others.”
