I have just completed fitting this artwork in SS along with the 4-1 Headers also artwork. Being very critical the mid pipe is supplied with 3 holes 2 for the O2 sensors and 1 for an EGT. There is no mention of this EGT that I recall in the sales info. The knock on effect is that I can't now run my car until I have acquired the necessary bung to close the hole. I could off course weld it closed. However, that would defeat the purpose of it being there in the first place! Nor do MX5 Parts sell the relevant bung. That small oversight on my part and on MX5 Parts detracts from 5 Stars. I look forward to completing the build and hearing the music and well as feeling the difference in performance.

Updated version has an O2 boss welded before and after the cat now, as well as a boss for EGT sensor - though IL motorsports extension harness isn't long enough to reach the post-cat boss. When combined with the 4-1 manifold, it gives no fewer than 4 O2 bosses! Handy if you want to install a wideband or a tuner wants to temporarily install theirs during mapping.

A nice piece of stainless steel engineering. It fitted well between an IL Motorsports 4-into-1 manifold and a standard backbox. The centre clamp, however, was too big. Even when fully tightened it didn't grip the pipe join, so we ended up having to weld the 2 halves of the midpipe together. There is no O2 sensor boss after the cat, which is a pain (I'd rather have the second O2 sensor boss than the EGT boss before the cat). Note that the O2 sensor boss that comes with the manifold sensor extension kit isn't made from the same steel as the midpipe, so welding it in will create a corrosion source. The front of the resonator is only 2 or 3mm away from the IL Motorsports chassis brace that I have fitted. They don't seem to be making contact, but I'd have preferred a bit more clearance given that IL Motorsports made both items. When fitted with the 4-into-1 manifold the increase in power and torque (after a remap by Skuzzle Motorsports) was significant, but the increase in noise was minimal, which is just what I wanted. I have yet to see if the car will get through the MOT emissions test with just the sports cat.
