Oil Filter Removal Tool MX5 Mk1/2/2.5 & Mk4 Reviews

4.5 Rating 6 Reviews
Read MX5parts Reviews

This handy little removal tool is the perfect solution to un-doing the impossible to get to oil filter on the Mk1, Mk2 & 2.5! Using a 3/8" ratchet, it simply slips over the top of the oil filter and grips on the flats making removal a doddle! We've tested this on Genuine and our own aftermarket filters and should be fine for the majority of other makes, however please be aware that some aftermarket manufacturers may have produced their filters in a slightly different size.Suitable for all Mk1, Mk2 & 2.5 models, 1989>2005Also fits Mk4 ND 2015>Please Note: Once on the filter it is a tight fit so it may require some gentle persuasion to take it off the old filter. Damage caused by lauching it at the garage wall is not covered under warranty!

Good tool but is too big for the Bosch 60 oil filter.

Good for the 68mm 14 flute oil filter, but recent aftermarket (& OEM) filters for the 1.8NB are 64mm 14 flute, so check before buying this what size of tool will be supplied.

Tool is fine but doesn't fit Mahle filters unfortunately too big.

Anything that helps getting to that oil filter is a bonus! One thing I would point out is that this fits perfectly on the genuine filter as supplied by MX5parts. What it didn't fit was the European-sourced genuine Mazda filter as previously fitted by my dealer. Not a problem for me, as those will be the filters I'll be using from now on.

Very useful item. With one proviso. If you're using it with just the 3/8 socket ratchet wrench, you'll still be clattering up against the various surrounding metalwork. And have little leverage. Put a 75mm (3") socket extension bar on the wrench, gives you more room, and makes the job a doddle.
