Windscreen Cowl Grommet MX5 Mk3/3.5/3.75 Reviews

Genuine Mazda PartGenuine Mazda replacement windscreen cowl screw grommet. Believe it or not, this little blighter can be the cause of water getting into either the drivers or passenger side footwell. The foam gasket on the back drys out and falls apart leaving a direct path for water to follow into the cabin of the vehicle. There are two required per car, and they are located at either end of the windscreen cowl. Simply pop out the black oval shaped cap, removed the screw underneath, lift up the cowl itself to give you access to the grommet underneath.Fits all Mk3, Mk3.5 & 3.75 models, 2005>2015Tip: It might also be worth ordering a couple of the Hole Covers at the same time as these also go brittle and often break when trying to remove them!

Water leak into passenger side stopped. Easy to do. Just don't understand why Mazda designed things this way!

Such a simple and cheap fix. Just replaced this on mine. Old grommet rubber was old and useless, water dribbling through dashboard into the footwell. Just remove the trim in front of the windscreen to replace. 15min tops

Like in the other reviewers I too had complaints from my wife of water dripping into her, and into the passenger foot well dampening the carpet.Elsewhere I also had read the horror stories of looking for blocked drain tubes etc.But this is the solution. This little beauty has saved the day, as mentioned the gasket is a very thin foam, it had dried up and had began to disintegrate, it's a poor design, no barrier for water.Very easy to get at for replacing, the other guys have set out the way to do it, I didn't need to remove wiper blade, and I was very careful removing the screw hole covers, so didn't need new ones, and yes, do use silicon to create a good seal. One happy customer and no drips.

Have just fitted new grommets to the cowling after my wife complained of being dripped on.Although there was no evidence of water inside the car, it seemed prudent to put a stop toit before further deterioration of the very thin foam gasket. With the cowl out of the way, access is then available to give the area beneath it good clean out. Use a silicon sealantto "glue" the grommet in place and only tighten the screw just enough to hold the cowl inplace. Use new hole covers as the old ones will probably be brittle and anyway, breakingthe old ones out is better than damaging the cowl trying to get them out whole. A new cowlis expensive! Job done and neither my wife or I will have to put up with the damp patch.

Parts arrived really quickly and were just what I was after. I had a problem of water leaking into the passenger foot well and the cause is a leaking grommet. I had a windscreen change a while back and a reckon it disturbs this vulnerable seal. You can see how it deteriorates over time. A poor design really.Replacement is really easy. I just removed the wipers and the cowl. I used some silicon sealant (bathroom sealant) to "stick" the grommet in place as a bit of extra water tightness. Cheap fix !!!!
