I bought this item and the matching spoiler part (Front Lower lip Spoiler, ATH, MX5 Mk3.5) expecting something completely different than the items received. Although in fairness to MX5Parts they made no mention of the construction materials I had expected in 2013 to have had something manufactured in some of the more durable automotive plastics similar to the Mazda rear diffuser panel and again the Mazda sports side sills recently purchased from MX5Parts. However when I received these items I found to my horror that they were manufactured from fibreglass. By the very nature of the material a brittle and easily fractured material destined to be fitted to the front most extremity of the car. Now, given the amount of speed bumps, let alone potholes that now litter most of our towns and cities in the UK I honestly wouldn't hold out much hope for these items, at a smidge under £360 lasting more than a couple of days before they get shattered into very expensive pieces. On this basis I returned the items for a refund, unfortunately under MX5Parts returns policy I am out of pocket to the tune of some £26. I have no problem with the returns policy per se but if I had been aware of the materials of manufacture from the outset then I would not have purchased the items in the first place and therefore not have been left out of pocket on carriage charges. It looks like a nice solution for anyone looking for a front splitter assembly, even hoping for some small level of functionality, but I suspect that after paying for painting and perhaps even fitting this would end up with some nice and expensive plans literally shattered.
