After 25 years, the original radiator started losing coolant. At first I hoped it was the cap, so I bought a new one. The loss of coolant continued, so I bought a drain plug (moisture was present at the location of the plug). In the end I never got around to fitting the plug and bought this after market replacement. Just as well I didnÆt try to change the plug because when I came to drain the system the cross head in the old one had been mangled by a previous service (in the dim and distant past) and was in poor condition. I resorted to drilling a 6 mm hole to drain the system. Fitting the new radiator was very straightforward. The mounts transferred easily and the fan fitted without drama. Highly recommended, particularly for the price versus a Mazda original part. Delivery was quick and efficient.

Thanks to MX5PARTS for usual good customer service. Product is much cheaper than OE part but beware the drain plug lacks a simple cheap rubber washer and it leaks. Best to retain the drain plug from your old radiator and use thta. Also does not come with a radiator cap so again retain your old one or order a new one.

Good value and superb service. I fitted this after my old radiator leaked from a seam near the top. Removing the old one was straight forward - two mounting bolts at the top and a couple of tabs on the bottom holding cooling pipes for the air-con. I did not remove the fans until the radiator was off, just separating the electrical connectors which are at each side on the top and easy to access. Trying to remove the fans with the radiator in place would be much harder. It does not come with a cap so order one separately if your seal is damaged. Also, the side bushes onto which it sits at the lower sides are not provided. Mine were easy to remove from the old radiator by removal of single, rusted, cir-clips. It does come with a drain plug.I attached the fans before refitting the radiator and am glad I did as their cowls needed flexing to get the mounting holes to align. The right-hand lower mounting bolt on the left fan, also holds a bracket for the air-con cooling tubes. I fitted this bolt out of the car and removed it again once the radiator was fitted to add the mounting bracket for the air-con pipe. I think it would be difficult to align the parts while the radiator is in place.

I'd just like to thank MX5PARTS for a brilliant customer service and Bryan in particular. I ordered one of these and fitted it but it leaked. They sent me another which was damaged by the courier and Bryan quickly despatched another which is now fitted and is fine. just a bit of bad luck. The product is great and the price is very good indeed. I have used MX5Parts since 2005 and they have always impressed me. Well done MX5PARTS.

Couple of things to watch for that will make your swap a whole lot easier! The bottom two bolts holding the fan on may be rusted, so have replacements ready. You might as well replace all four. The radiator comes with the top rubber mounts where the bolts attach it to the body, but it does not come with the bottom mounts, you re-use them off your old one and the tiny thin e-clips holding this shaft to the radiator may be rusted, one of mine snapped. Have two replacement e-clips ready, the shaft was around 6mm to give you an idea of clip size and they were a pain to find locally at short notice!Otherwise this is a straight swap, basically disconnect the hoses and fan (there is an access flap to get to the bottom hose on my Eunos), undo two bolts top left and right and lift out. Dead easy to do.Reassemble, refill the radiator, run it with the expansion tank lid open a bit and heater on full blast. Job done.

The original radiator started to leak along the top seam, so subtle that I only noticed when the temperature started to creep up sitting in traffic. This replacement was quick and easy to install (i took the opportunity to replace the spring hose clips with Jubilee clips).Apart from the colour of the top and bottom, it is identical to the original. been running for about two weeks now without problems. The old radiator was rotten, many of the cooling fins crumbled away as it lifted it out of the car. After 23 years of service, it was due for a replacement.
