Having failed MOT twice on emisions with old cat, I purchased a new cat from mx5 parts at a very reasonable price. Fitting was very straightforward with care taken to cut the existing pipe correctly. The car then failed MOT again on emissions! The MOT tester sent me on a ten mile thrash to get the exhaust really hot. Car then passed with flying colours. Every day a school day!

We had the catalytic converter removed from our MX by persons unknown. Bought this as a replacement and fitted straight on. Fortunately they didnÆt cut on the manifold side of the flange and they left enough of the rear of the exhaust to fix onto. Not had the CO levels checked but the fitting was spot on

Works brilliantly, highly recommended! My Mk2 NB 1.8S MX5, 64,000 miles from new and in immaculate condition struggled to pass its MoT for the past 7 years, finally my MoT tester said the high CO2 must be the Catalytic Converter because everything else has been changed over the years and it only failed on CO2. Fitting this replacement cat, that cost ú100 delivered, and immediately the carÆs CO2 emissions readout went from red to green! Perfect, thank you MX5 Parts. Note that I had previously changed the Lamba Sensor because the car was running a little rich which probably helped to kill the old cat over the past few years.

I was skeptical given earlier reviews, but none were recent. My cat died, so replaced with this one a few weeks back.Went through its MOT today:fast idle CO 0.19% HC 93natural idle CO 0.22%So far so good. Assume it will be same story next year.Fit and kit is good.

It does the job. No doubt on it.1°) It fits perfectly with the Centre Pipe, Aftermarket, MX5 Mk2[SI6469]. Combination of both gives you the same length than the Mazda OEM one. Easy to install, you just need joint sealer.2°) Concerning MOT (or Contrôle Technique in French language), at the beginning of the check it does not pass cause cat convertor did not reach high temperature enough to ensure a good burn process. Finally after the inspector accelerated the engine at 5000 rpm during 5 min., second check was OK (Both CO=0% / Lambda=1.030).It did the job :-)

Likewise mine had done less than 1K miles on the car, failed it's MOT on emmisions, changed the cat, instant pass, I also wouldn't recommend this item as a replacement, spend a bit more & get a decent cat as this item just isn't up to the job, PH.

This catalytic convertor had little or no effect on my MX-5 at all.It fitted with no problems, and the exhaust-system was completely airtight, but the CO levels was way too high to get through the MOT test (0,7%).After mounting an original Mazda convertor the CO-levels dropped to 0,002% !I also noted that the original Mazda convertor is almost twice the size of this product...?Thankfully, MX5 Parts made me a full money refund - but even though I like MX-5 Parts and use them a lot, I cannot recommend this catalytic convertor.
