EBC Ultimax Blackdash Ultra Quiet Sports Front Disc SetThe narrower multi slot design of the Ultimax sport disc and the progressive angle at which the slots are machined creates a quiet running sport disc that still has benefits of removing gas, dirt, water and debris and maintaining parallel pad wear. EBC have always been honest enough to say that the biggest advantage of slotted discs is the fact that they promote flat and parallel pad wear rather than allowing ridges to develop on pads and discs which is typical of "drilled only" sport discs. By preventing these ridges brakes stay more consistent throughout pad and disc wear life. The discs are supplied black in colour, but this coating will wear off after a few hours use leaving only the grooves black.Fits all Mk1 1.8 & All Mk2/2.5 models with standard brakes.Priced as a boxed pair, one left hand and one right hand.

Update. As it turned out, these discs lasted a total of 42,000 miles by which time they had pretty much started to disintegrate. I had also fitted a rear set at the same time together with EBC Green Stuff pads. With the benefit of hindsight I can now appreciate how unpleasant it is to be approaching the back of a petrol tanker without any braking power on approaching a set of temporary traffic lights whilst on the way to work.I think the moral of the story is:1. If, as was in my case, you don't pay attention to the condition of your brakes or pay to get your car serviced regularly, you run the risk of pads and discs failing just when you need them to work.2. Maybe it's not such a good idea to replace a whole set at the same time.I don't think that I'm particularly aggressive when it comes to braking so maybe I was a bit naiive in thinking that the setup would last for a lot longer than it actually did. Lesson learned.

Well, six months to the day have passed since I fitted Ultra Quiet discs & EBC Greenstuff brake pads all round on my Mk1 Eunos and in that time I have put 4700 miles on the clock and have been very happy with the performance of this set up. No brake squeal or any sign of uneven wear on the discs. After a winter that has really taken a toll on the condition of my wheels (not to mention the roads on which they travel), everything seems to be and look as good as it did when I first installed the discs in September ’09.I’m a bit surprised that nobody else seems to have tried these discs out by now; and if so, for better or worse, sent in their feedback. On the plus side I suppose it makes me the only Ultra Quiet in the village.

Fitted on all four wheels with new Greenstuffs two weeks ago. 910 miles under the belt since then including two or three fairly severe braking events. Fitted on without a a hitch. They do seem to be very quiet and also very effective so far. And they look the business too. Also like that they are painted although time alone will tell how the paint will stand up to the rigours of the winter ahead. All told, a vast improvement on what was.
