Looks nice all white & branded, hex on head if you ever need it (but shouldn’t). But no film over the filter itself, so one less star for K&N due to potential FOD. But excellent service from MX5 parts as always.

Looked forward to getting this new filter onto the car as part of a regular oil change. Whilst fitting, the filter slipped in my hand and fell from my grasp. Quickly gathered it up and screwed it on as normal. But when I started the car up, about 2.5l of Mobil 1 quickly found its way onto the garage floor. On investigation I found that the gasket had fallen off the filter when it slipped in my hand, hence the huge leak on start-up. Still not found the gasket, but due to time pressure had to replace the K&N filter with a standard Mazda unit from my local dealer. Perhaps more an issue with the user than the product, but the gasket should not have come off quite so easily.

It's fine.Beware though, my filter did absolutely NOT come with a 17mm nut welded to the top. It was a 1" nut.I thought it might be me going mad, but no - it was DEFINITELY a 1" nut - not a 17mm nut.On an Easter weekend, trying to source an imperial 1" socket was......challenging.Three starts because it does what it is supposed to do - i.e. filter the oil.It lost two stars because it didn't have a 17mm nut welded to the top, and forced me to go source a 1" socket in the middle of the Easter weekend. Given I paid 'extra' for the convenience of having a nut welded to the top to make removal of the filter easier, this rather defeated the object.....

Fantastic oil filter, Had some aftermarket one on my NA. Changed it for this and the oil stays golden and flows lovely through it, the 17mm nut on the end makes it alot easier to change as well
