Hood/Hardtop Catch Stopper MX5 Mk1/2/2.5 Reviews

4.2 Rating 5 Reviews
Read MX5parts Reviews

Genuine Mazda PartReplacement nylon cover for the front of the catch on the hood or hardtop. This item's function is to protect the striker on your windscreen header from scratching and rusting due to constant contact when latching your soft top. As you can see from the photo, they crack. After cracking, they fall apart and disappear into the unknown. Inspect regularly and replace as needed. Fits all Mk1, Mk2 & 2.5 models, 1989>2002, up to chassis number 304724.

Original Mazda part, very easy to fit. The first thing to check if there is any issue with the roof catches/latches. These are the only part available but will not fit the last of the MK2.5 cars some 2003, 2004 and 2005. As no alternative available will need to dremmel the metal ends to make them fit.

My catch stoppers had disintegrated completely. Replaced them with these and they now engage properly again and make a much tighter seal with the top of the windscreen. I have a 2004 nb 2.5 and even though these are not the 'correct' later generation part, they worked very well with my latches.

Usual excellent MX5 Parts delivery, but unfortunately this didn't fit the catch on my 2005 Arctic. Whether there are variations in the shape of the catch I don't know but mine was too wide and flat to go into the new stopper. Check the shape before you buy.

These little things make your latches nice and locked in again! BUT WARNING i had a very hard time getting the screws off the top latches. They're Loctite in there since the factory and YOU WILL strip the head of the screw if it gets way too tight.I had to drill mine out and use vice grips.
