“Once you manage to fix it, it’s an all right feature to have. Much better than the hard original one. But first you have to fix it, and it’s not easy. I didn’t have the predrilled hole, thus I had to measure out and drill it self. The arm rest still didn’t fit, since the bottom part hit the top of the cup holder. Those needed to be cut. There is still a gap remains on the Left hand side because of the shape of the mid console.”

“I cannot fathom why someone rated this item so badly. It is fine and fits well, albeit at a hefty price.Better than the sliding one at least!At first it seemed awkward to fit and there were no instructions.A phone call to MX 5 parts was useless. “ Dunno I never fitted one”Anyway once the console was removed it was obvious, with mounting holes already there.I just did not know to remove it and was all I wanted to know.”

“Okay, probably a bit previous on this as I have not completed the install, however having purchased the Centre Console Storage tray and reading Martin Piggots comments on not wanting do a double removal I thought I would buy the arm rest. I have installed it on the Storage tray and the fit does look a bit iffy, a bit skew wiff and for the life of me I do not know how the rear part of the tray behind the arm rest hinge is going to tidy up once it is fitted in the car. It doesn't look anything like the photograph that's for sure, well not at the moment anyway. There is a small gap at the front as well and how this can be dismissed as a feature I don't know. I will update once install is complete but at the moment verging on negative :-(”

“AWFUL, AWFUL ITEM. RUBBISH FIT AND QUALITY. NOT OF THE STANDARD EXPECTED FROM MX5PARTS.The fit on the armrest I received is really poor because it does not fit tightly into the centre console unit and wobbles from side to side so badly that it rattles. Also the front edge of the armrest is too curved at the corners. As a result gaps are present in the corners between it and the rectangular hole of the centre console that are big enough to get a small screwdriver down. Not exactly high quality.The plastic covering the armrest is also rather poor. It is a slightly different colour to the surrounding trim (even worse than the lid of the matching centre console tray). The grain of the leather effect is also coarse and nothing like anything else in the cabin.It cheapens the whole cabin and I have requested a refund. Even if it was free I would not want it in my car, so at over £50 it is an absolute joke.Complaints aside. Should you actually want one of these take note that you have to remove the matching centre console unit to fit it as the screws for the bracket attach from the underside of the centre console unit, so order and fit them at the same time. As others have stated the trim plastics are quite soft and the retaining clips easy to break, so it’s not something you would want to do more than once if you can help it.Editors Note: Sorry to hear that this product didn\'t live up to your expectations. As with all our products, should you not be entirely satisfied, we are more than happy for you to return the item to us for a full refund. On 29/01/2011 Martin added....GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE, BAD PRODUCT.fUrther to my last review, MX5parts refunded me really promptly on this item and, as always their customer service was great (THANKS).However, I have been told that the gaps at the front of this product that I mentioned before, which incidentally cannot be seen on the product photgraph are a design feature, SO IT IS MEANT TO FIT BADLY at the front.”
