Bonnet Lifters Chrome MX5 Mk3/3.5 Reviews

Read MX5parts Reviews

IL Motorsport have worked together with one of the leaders in hydraulic lifters world wide to produce this new system for the Mk3/3.5. The system is installed using all the existing mounting points, no drilling is required. The lifters themselves are chromed and come with a 2 year waranty. The result is superb. The bonnet lifts with no effort, with the lifters even having a 'slowing' effect as the bonnet reaches the fully open position. The lifters are strong enough to hold the bonnet open even in strong wind, yet have minimal resistance when closing :-)Now available in Black! If you have a 2008> Mk3.5 model fitted with the OE resonance chamber, you will also need this bracket for a perfect fit.Fits all Mk3 & 3.5 models, 2005>2012.Please note: These will not fit Mk3.75 models from chassis number 350000 on wards that have the DHS system.

Have just fitted these and took about 30 minutes. They look good and do the job well. The only minus point was the two plastic pegs supplied that locate the bottom bracket. They were useless. I purchased some trim panel nuts(Part no HFX 365) from halfords and used self tappers. These gave a really rigid fixing. Would have scored five if not for this.

The quality appears good, and the instructions are also in English. The fitting of the bonnet mounts is straightforward, as is the fitting of the body bracket on the right hand side. I agree that the plastic fixers are not the strongest and used alternatives. On a 3.5 the left side body mount is not easy at all. The equivalent mounting point for the bolt is hidden behind the bracket that support the induction extension. Thus as well as following the instructions first remove the bracket - the body mounting fits below this, but the bracket will need a cutout in it at the front end to allow both to fit. Use the bolt from the right side to fit the body mount, rather than the supplied bolt. Loosely fit the bolts for the body mount and the bracket then tighten both - it is very fiddly. The bundle of cables needs both fixing points removing - but as it is quite rigid then it didn't require refitting. Finally a little silicone lubricant on the arms & it's a job well done. Looks good, very happy - don't know why Mazda don't fit them as standard!

Note to all 2.0i mk3.5 owners(check with supplier before ordering) these will not fit our cars which is a big shame because they look like a nice piece of kit.Lets hope they bring something out soon that fits

Just received this item and when looking at and reading instructionsI noticed that on the new Mk3.5 there is a bracket on the passengerside that is in the way. (This is not shown on instructions)The bracket supports an air hose that goes to the bulkhead. After a bit of DIY (cutting notch in bracket with hacksaw) I managed to fit the passenger side bonnet lifter, but it's really awkward to then getto the hex screw to tighten bracket for the bonnet lifter. So all Mk 3.5 owners need to be aware of this difference.

Very fast delivery as only MX5 Parts can do. fitted in 40 mins the finish is very good and the were easy to fit, the black screw inserts are uselessthrow them away and use Kitchen door small white plastic screw inserts you can get these from your local DIY store tap them home with a small hammer you can use the screws that came with the lifters. I found it better to screw the bolt nearly all the way out from the fixing plate this will help when you put the plat through the hole in the BONNET, These are a great improvment on using the STICK.
