“The original vinyl gaiter was torn and this was the only other one I could find online. Took about 15 minutes to fit and I did have to trim the edge and make one additional slot for a clip. Looks really nice fitted and pretty good value for money I would say.”

“I ordered the leather handbrake- and gear lever gaiter. I found out that they are both completely different. Both are from IL motorsport. The leather is different, one is glossy, the other has a matte finish. Also the stitching is different. You would expect both leathers to be the same, just like the stitching. the quality is oké.”

“Looks so much better than the original plastic gaiter! Easily fitted in 20 minutes. Shape could be slightly better as the leather pulls a bit when the handbreak is down. I suppose this will get better overtime.”

“Although not indicated in the Catalogue, this item fits the Mk 3.5 as well as the Mk 3. It took me less than half an hour to fit it to my Sport Tech. I had to punch one new hole, but apart from that it was a piece of cake. It's a little bit taut when the handbrake is off, but that will stretch with use, and it still looks 200% better than the cheap and nasty vinyl original. I'm with Peter on what a leather interior should include and this gaiter, along with the gear lever one, makes such a difference!”

“A real pain to fit. Insufficient holes made compared with the original, so had to make a new one, and one hole in the wrong place. as a previous reviewer stated there is far too much material to fit between the two mouldings which clasp it. No matter what I did, it refused to fit correctly (almost flush) back in the car. At this point considered returning it to MX5 parts, as there was a risk of breaking the small plastic clips which hole the leather in places. Trimmed some pieces off to make it slightly thinner. In the end the only way I could get it to fit was with the stitching reversed (Yes! There is a front and back!). Handbrake now has to be pushed down to ensure it is off, and gaiter very tight on exposed part. Part of the problem is that the leather gaiter is equidistant all the way around from the hole to the base, the original plastic one is not, it is quite a bit longer to the rear.Needs a redesign to make a really good fit.”
