Door Mirror Set Unpainted MX5 Mk1 Reviews

1.7 Rating 3 Reviews
Read MX5parts Reviews

This is a complete set of two unpainted manual mirrors which are ideal for less common coloured vehicles that we don't currently have ready painted sets for. Unlike the OE mirrors, the internal parts in these kits are made with stainless parts for a much longer life. Supplied complete with a replacement mirror foot gasket. Fits all Mk1 models, 1989>1998 with manual mirrors. Please Note: A small number of very early cars only had a small locator hole cut in the door. These mirrors are designed to fit the majority of vehicles that had a larger hole. To fit to an early car, simply either elongate the hole in the door, or remove the cresent shape locator peg on the base of the mirror with a small file.

the mirrors do fit well and look the part but the outer rim round the glass i would have expected to clip into place to hold the glass in but it doesnt, you just get some small sticky pads to hold the mirror glass in and the outer rim i have had to glue in place, not the end of the world but could be better

Hi Keith, Thank you for your review and for highlighting both the fit and aesthetics of the mirrors. We’re glad they look the part for you! We understand your concern about the method for securing the glass; your feedback about the outer rim is appreciated, and we will certainly take it into consideration for future improvements. It’s great to hear you were able to find a solution. Thanks for your feedback. MX5parts

I have recently bought quite a few exterior trim pieces from MX5 Parts as I'm having my Mk1 re-sprayed. Unfortunately these mirrors have been the biggest disappointment. The quality is pretty poor, with a large square of extra plastic on the mirror-support covers which has to be removed - why? When I dropped them off to the bodyshop to be painted, he asked if I'd bought them from Temu! There were no assembly instructions included and it took several attempts and me nearly rounding one of the screw-heads off in order to work out the correct order in which to assemble them. Also, and this maybe my error, but it's not immediately obvious that it doesn't come with the screws to fix them to the door! I did email MX5 parts a while before I posted this review, but they didn't reply. It's a shame because everything else I have bought has been spot-on. The manufacurer needs to up their game on these - I wanted ones that looked original and these are the only ones available!

Hi Michael, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're genuinely sorry to hear that the Door Mirror Set did not meet your expectations. Your feedback regarding the additional plastic on the mirror-support covers and the lack of assembly instructions is valuable to us, and we will pass it to our products team for review. It's great to hear that you've had a positive experience with other products from us, and we hope to be of service on your next project. Thank you, MX5parts

well i would have given these mirrors a 5 star rating but found out today that if your unlucky enough to break one of the mirror glass then you cant just buy a glass, you have to buy another pair of complete mirrors as the glass in thses is smaller than the genuine ones. Having spent hundreds of pounds with MX5Parts this is the first time i have rated anything as bad but find daft that you can\'t buy a replacement glass i hope this stops anyone else making the same mistake.Editors Note: Thanks for the review and sorry to hear that you are disappointed with this product. It is worth noting though that replacement mirror glasses are not available for the Genuine Mazda Mk1 mirrors either, and should one of those break the only option is to replace the complete unit. We will however contact the supplier of these mirror sets to see if it is possible to obtain the glasses seperately.
