Left Hand Boot Lid Lifter KitHave you got a rear spoiler, stainless boot light, saddle bags or such like fitted? Now you'll find that the puney springs on the boot lid will no longer lift it open. Well, here's the solution! Our boot lid lifter will automatically raise the boot lid once the catch is released. This one is fitted to the left hand side of the car as you are stood at the back looking forward. Can be used in conjunction with the right hand version for handling even more weight.Fits all Mk1, Mk2 & 2.5 models, 1989>2005Fitting Instructions

Bought this to complement my keyless entry kit (you need a extra sol on the boot lock) eBay, be aware you do need the left one not the right side. Spare wheel in the way Mk 1. However, Jochen came to the rescue once again, with the correct part fitted I can sit in cockpit and pop my lid all day long!! 72 year old in my 23 year old mx 5

OK then.I don't usually do reviews but this kit should be called the Ronseal boot lifter. It does exactly what it says on the sales blurb! Took me an hour to fit, but I did it carefully and slowly, I could probably have chucked it on in 40 mins but I thought slowly does it best. The puny original bits of bendy wire that formed the original lifting mechanism are gone and the boot opens smoothly and quickly. One serious point that was made in the instructions; is get the drilled hole in the hinge arm dead centre or there will be tears! Otherwise dead easy to fit! Well done Scimitar.

Received this a gift at Christmas and have only today got round to fitting it. Two sets of instructions (excluding those in Deutsch) and fitting only took 20 - 30 minutes. I must confess, I had the aid of an experienced mechanic. Fits perfectly, works perfectly, now all I need is a spoiler in order to deem this nifty little accessory as a necessity (rather than lazy!)

I decided to fit one of these due to the fact that my boot lid has a spoiler and a cargo storage net fitted to it. A little bit fiddly, by well worth it as I no longer have to use one hand to hold up the boot lid. Mechanically the boot only opens half way by itself, but this could be something to do with the weight of my spoiler. But I can now open up the boot lid without the danger of it slamming down on my head.Just make sure when you fit the lifter, that you cover the top of the suspension, other wise you might do what I did and lose the nut down the hole. Furtunately I manage to find another one in amounst my tools. As usual, great sevice and quick delivery from the MX5 parts team!

Great service, first time for using MX5parts but will again. The boot lid lifter was ok to fit, just read though what to do a couple of times and read though as your doing it and all will be fine. You do need a couple more spanners than your told but this is just to stop the nut spinning on the back. I do think this should be a bit cheaper than nearly 60quid but not to bad.

Fitting is not the easiest job (the instructions are not too clear and sometimes even wrong) but with a little technical know-how it shouldn't take more than 45 mins. After that: perfect! Even works great with our boot rack.

The new opener very neatly hides behind a panel in the boot almost invisibly - very cool!A tip for fitting is to remove the metal clip from the end of the piston so that the end can be removed. When it comes to bolting it to the hinge you'll find it MUCH easier to tighten everything using the "piston end" rather than the bolt.
