End result seems pretty good so far. We asked an MX5 specialist repairer to fit these, after we stupidly lost the instructions. It took him 2 hours. His comment was that this was a generic kit not specifically designed for the MX5. The non-matching switches were discarded in favour of some genuine ones pirated from a scrap car. It wasn't the only salvaged item he used. His main complaint was that there were too few matching mount points to attach the units to the doors to make them completely stable and safe. Let's see!

Usual very quick delivery and really high quality kit, apart from lack of instructions as others have noted. Very grateful therefore to the tips from the other reviewers especially with regard to using existing wiring which made the job a doddle. Thanks!

Excellent delivery - 5 days from UK to my doorstep in Western Australia, during a pandemic!I bought this kit to replace the existing tired and broken units in my 91 NA6Very quick to change over, about 3-4 hours for the 2 sides.I did not need to install any of the electrics, I just reused the existing plugs, switches and wiringVery quick and very smooth operation - made me smile :)Things for others to note:The mounting holes used for the motor are not the same as the original - see the manualThe glide only uses 2 of the 4 original mounting holes - see the manualYou can pop out the old terminals from the motor connector and insert the new ones - with care.Be aware that the new window cables follow a slightly different route and will foul on the window bump stop if they are not secured properlyThe cable sheath is a larger diameter than the original so the clips to secure the sheath do not fit.You may need to reposition the bottom mount point for the motor to get it to align with existing mounting holes.

I fitted this kit to my '97 1.8 Harvard this weekend. Fitting was fairly straightforward, despite the very brief instructions. The biggest problem was the mounting plate for the window switches, which simply did not fit the hole in the centre console. There was a 1mm gap on one side whatever we tried.Rather than spend another 50 quid on genuine Mazda switches we opted to modify the existing blank switch panel, which unscrews from the console. We measured the switches with callipers, drew a template, stuck it to the original switch panel and then drilled out and filed down two rectangular holes and snapped the switches into that. That seems to work ok, although care is needed...

A very good window mechanism, and very easy to fit into the doors (straight swap for the manual unit less a nut or two - now sapre!). A VERY uselful tip I found from google is that late 1.8 MK1's (like my 1998) already have the leccy window wiring fitted to the car. I simply run the cables into the A pillar, crimped on (bigger than supplied) female spade terminal and pushed into the empty holes of the plug situated in both A pillars (same plug used for speaker connections). I also bought a genuine switch unit from a breakers and plugged that into the other end of the loom in the centre consol. Job done. No need for any DIY wiring to fuse boxes etc etc. Check you have the loom there. If you have, it will save you a LOT of time and with the genuine switches and very tidy wiring, it also looks 'factory fit'.Note: the supplied switches / plate didn't fit into my car (smaller that the hole and didn't have the mounting screw points), so even I wanted to use them I couldn't have done. For that it only gets three stars as it nearly cost me another £50 for switches!

Question: It says in the description that it comes with Genuine mazda switches. I have been reading the reviews and people have said these switches don't quite fit and some have said they have bought the switches that you sell on here speratley and they fit perfectly. Have you altered the kit and changed the switches since the reviews about the bad switches and put better ones in? I am asking because i would like to purchase the kit but if the switches arn't great i will have to buy the others ones on this site and that would bring the cost to around £250 and i could get that cheaper else where.
