It also has a higher 'amp hour' (31) and a higher 'cranking amp rate' (475).Designed specifically for the MX-5, this battery is a direct replacement for the original Panasonic battery, and is also 30% more powerfull with a cranking rate of 475 amps. The main features are:Sealed and maintenance freeAbsorbed Glass Mat construction, not a comventional 'flooded' batteryLiquid-free, no gassing and zero terminal corrosionDirect replacement for the factory Mazda MX-5/Eunos battery (no modifications)Quick and simple to installOEM correct polarityVenting attachments for proper venting hook upProper channel for factory mounting bracket2 years warrantySize: L-197mm W-130mm H-170mm H with terminal 178mmFits all Mk1, Mk2 & 2.5 models, 1989>2005.Care Instructions, Click HereBattery Charger designed specifically for Gel and Glass Mat batteries We would also highly recommend the use of a battery cut off swtich if your car is not used on a regular basis. Please Note: Due to airline regulations concerning the transport of dangerous goods, we are unable to send these batteries outside of Europe by air. Oh dear !!! have I fallen into the trap that I have been reading about in the current reviews for this battery. History........ bought a \'Halfords\' type standard battery but it kept loosing its charge after a couple of days (alternator tested and OK) so I had to carry 2 batteries in my \'92 Roadster to be safe (auto so can\'t jump start). Then I bought this WestCo battery and read the instructions carefully noting the technology. Battery arrived, no complaints about the service (5 Star). New battery in car 3 days, go to start today, battery dead. So tonight it goes on a trickle charge for a couple of days and I\'ll try again with maybe a 30 mile run to fully charge. If that doesn\'t work ANY SUGGESTIONS please.Editors Note: Please read the Care instructions sent with the battery (or downloadable from the product page). An auto that looses its charge almost definately has a faulty inhibitor switch on the gearbox. It is the box on the side of the shift lever, under the centre console. Try disconnecting it and see if it solves the problem.

Ordered Monday evening, arrived Wednesday lunchtime. The battery itself is tiny, even compared to my old FIAMM lead acid, roughly three housebricks in volume. Car fired up with no problems, confirming the fact that my old battery had gone south even after a 24 hour charge. Good product and top delivery from MX5Parts as usual.

Ordered 3:30, delivered next day at 09:15. Ordered battery and all the bits (tray, clamp etc.). I am not at all handy with DIY but found fitting so easy that I was actually proud of myself! Brilliant service, brilliant product. I am looking forward to this summers outings.

Ordered 4PM Monday, Delivered 1PM Tuesday. This was a replacement for an original 10 year old panasonic in my 1997 Harvard. Needless to say the difference was dramatic and immediately noticeable. The engine is quieter and smoother when idling and it even feels like acceleration is improved. The battery is a bit taller and not as long as the original and is white in colour but as long as you are still in possession of the clip-on cover then no one need ever know!

Last time I had to replace the battery in the car was 5 years ago - Mazda wanted something like £120 for the GEL at the time, so fitted a slightly larger electrolyte instead. Worked fine but as it was larger I needed different fittings and the battery cover/carpet would not go back. I kept the old fittings in the then untidy boot until now. One 5 y/o dead battery later I find this little gem.YES! I knew that some of the shed-loads of old bits & pieces I always keep would come in useful and the old fittings and cover/carpet could go back in place again. Obviously a direct replacement for the original in my 1994 1.8iS.So, don't worry about getting this WestCo unit or if it will do the job. It's actually better, it fits a treat and probably get to you quicker than going through a main dealer. NICE !!
