Usual speedy delivery and reasonable quality leather and looks great fitted... but the fitting is not as simple as it could/should be. Other reviews mention the holes not being in the right place - and they're not! I fitted one to my Mk1 Eunos last night, what should be a very quick job took about 30 mins wrestling with small screwdrivers and a knife because most of the holes are in the wring place. Surely the item can be made with then in the correct place?! Please MX5parts.co.uk sort this out!

Sorry, I take back my first review comment about the holes not being lined up. I was having a blond moment. (and I'm not even blond!) I went back in the car and had a look at where I was going wrong. Figured it out and had it on in minutes! lol not all the holes line up though. But the finished product is great. Thank you again MX5 parts! you rock! (I don't)

:-( sadly I'm having trouble attaching this to where the old gaiter was. The holes are not lined up at all. So much so, I came back on here to make sure I got the gaiter for the Mk1. I think I'm going to need to buy a leather hole punch to line it up. Slightly miffed, as all other parts I have bought from here have been an absolute breeze to fit.

The part arrived swiftly enough and looks to be of reasonable quality. Unfortunately, I have not been able to remove the 'PLS' stainless steel, with wood effect top, gear knob, from my 1991 Eunos Roadster. It simply will not unscrew despite the best efforts of the strongest member of the family. There seems to be no access point for WD40, or reasonable purchase for, e.g., a stilson wrench. I am therefore unable to give a full or fair assessment of this part to date. Perhaps this is a salutary warning for potential buyers who have similar hardware to myself. (On a lighter note, which perhaps will give some amusement to readers, I needed a replacement because whilst driving last winter, the gearlever in fifth, a large mouse nibbled a 2p sized hole in the gaiter from below, and jumped out onto my lap).

High quality leather and looks great in the car but as others have said only some of the holes line up. Left wondering why as it must be possible to make the item with the holes in the right places! Forewarned, made sure I had a sharp knife ready to make the additional holes.I removed the grey plastic ring from inside the top of the old gaiter and superglued in place inside the new one, this helps to locate it correctly on the gearlever stub and matches up the diameter of the gearknob. I don't think this is essential though.Five star look but four stars because of having to muck about with sharp objects to get a good fit.

Delivery was (unusually) a bit slow. The original cover had split and been repaired with glue (!) which not only looked awful but chafed the hand when changing gear. Fitting took a fair while but was fairly straightforward; I tried to salvage the ring glued to the top of the original but it broke in two and so left it off - you don't need it. The end result, particularly with the matching hand brake cover, is really very good indeed.

Rapid delivery and a good quality product.....only a 4 star from me though cos it was a little bit long for my longing (looked a bit.....creased, with the excess material) but even still, its far better than the old ripped one that was on when I bought the '5'! Worth the £15 though

Looks excellent when installed, though pre-punched holes in the RIGHT places would be an advantage as far as installation goes. The fact that the holes don't line up properly, combined with the curious juxtaposition of two very different leathers in the construction of the gaiter, stops me from giving the full five stars. A solid four though, and provided it stays put given that only half of the fixing pegs are in use it will look excellent for a long time to come. Matches well with MX5parts' leather handbrake gaiter.
