Rambo Micklem Headcollar Reviews

Nice halter. I purchased the small horse for my fine headed thoroughbred gelding. I appreciate the cavesons and throat adjustability, but find there is not enough holes to shorten the crown piece sufficiently to accommodate the long check pieces of this halter. As a result, it sits lower to the cartilage of his nose than it is supposed to. I will swap out the crown for a standard padded one, but I really should not have had to. On the quality front, the stitching is fine, but I have some concerns about the leather. It is fairly stiff and requires a lot of conditioning before the crown can be adjusted without fear of splitting. I noticed a few small blemishes in the padding which I can ignore. What I am having trouble ignoring is the deep split extending from one of the middle adjustment holes of the cavesons to the edge of the leather. I am worried that with much strain it will rip, so I can't use that hole, which is the one of best fit, or any hole below it without fear of breaking. I am glad I got the halter. Here, the states, these halters sell for $150 or more, so I appreciated the price and brought it home in my carry on. But I wish the details were attended to more carefully. A snap at the throat would be nice. A more adjustable crown piece would be helpful, more so than the elastic that is there. Care in cutting the leather is really where this piece falls short though.
