“We love Meg Rivers cakes but this wasn't our favourite. It was a pleasant cake but for us it wasn't special. The texture was good with hint of chocolate flavour. The crunchy nut topping was nice.”

“Nice cake but something of a diappointment I'm afraid. I have bought cakes from Meg Rivers before and all but one of them have been divinely good (excepting the ginger cake which contained ginger ale and crunchy ginger on top and did not have a good flavour), so the fact that this one was nice but not heavenly was dispiriting. If I were not used to their usual fabulous creations I would have found this one to be solidly good. The best ever is the sticky ginger cake which sadly seems to be a limited edition. A pity because it is a thousand times better than the ginger cake which seems to be always available, but is rather second rate. The cherry, and the lemon cakes are fabulous.”
“Best cake we have eaten this year! Nutty, chocolatey and a nice moist crumb. Can't say if it would last because it was so good we (6) ate it all in one go! Had it for dessert with some fresh raspberries and a trickle of double cream. Delicious! Thanks”
“The chocolate and hazelnut cake was moist, delicious, and up to the usual high standards in every way. It was not overly sweet but hads lots of flavour. I was pleased that it didn't have coffee as an ingredient (unlike the standard Meg Rivers chocolate cake) as my tastebuds seem to interpret this as a strange metallic taste.”
“My family arrived for tea Friday 15th Aug so slices of the cake were handed out! They loved it! So, four of us on the 15th and two the day before indulged!! I have just checked the cake tin to see what is left for me- pleased to say I can enjoy more for a few more days yet, good. A. very generous sized cake, so delicious and not too choclaty!
