Traditional Slow Airs of Ireland by Tomás Ó Canainn   For the musician hoping to fully understand and appreciate our centuries old tradition this is a must-add to your collection. The book features a major collection of traditional Irish slow airs that captures the essence and beauty of Irish traditional music and is an often over-looked genre thereof. Included in the 118 airs that make up this essential compilation, are some of the great sean-nós (old style) airs as well as tunes by Carolan and other favourite and well-known pieces. Tomás Ó Canainn has a lifetime of experience both performing and teaching Irish music and his selection of beautiful, soaring and majestic slow airs is ideal for extending your repertoire for any melody instrument. These relatively easy pieces are also suitable for those approaching Irish slow airs for the first time. "A well-played air has a splendid, soaring dimension that must be experienced to be understood" - Tomás Ó Canainn. ESTIMATED SHIPPING TIMES: All orders placed before 12pm are shipped the same day. This is what I was looking for - a book of slow airs rather than all the quick tunes that are also a basic part of the Uilleann repertoire.

Excellent book with loads of great tunes to learn. Only drawback, no chords, so I have to work them out for myself. Not a big problem really. Enjoying it.

I love how it's printed and organised. The only addition I would like is to have a chordal indication of possible modulations. I sometimes can't tell what a backing instrument should play. Apart from that I love sitting down and exploring the tunes. What started me off years ago was hearing Matt Molloy play Lament for Staker Wallace. Still gives me goose-bumps. Thank you all so much. Slow airs on clarinet Wonderful book and it arrived promptly. It would be fabulous if you made the cd available for download. I think I have to order it through Hal Leonard, because I'm in the US. Thank you, you've made my day.
