The Green Celtic Knot Screen Printed Bodhrán

The interlacing lines of the Celtic Knot stands for "no beginning, no ending, the continuity of everlasting love and the binding together of two souls or spirits".

Christianity has embraced much of the ancient Celtic symbolism and has adapted many Celtic knots into high crosses and illuminated manuscripts. Celtic knots date back to the 5th century and were used by ancient illuminated manuscripts such as the Book of Kells and the Book of Durrow.
This is a great quality 12" bodhrán which features a very attractive screen-printed Celtic design and is made by McNeela Music.

Being a novice with the bodhran (although a jazz/funk on kit and a Latin percussion drummer otherwise) on first face I realized this particular model is not an upper calibre performing drum (I will checkout other models). However, this drum being so pretty it remains on display in my home.

All my son wanted for Christmas was a real drum. He is very musical and really loves it. For me, the quality is high and the shipping went well (we ordered to the US) and the bodrhán is beautiful.

Not as good as I'd hoped It doesn't have as good a sound as I expected. In the beginning it didn't even sound like a drum at all, just like banging any old thing. It's starting to warm up now though and sound a bit better. Looks beautiful though.

Thank you for this feedback Amba! You may need to check your environment and make sure it's not too dry, this can cause the skin to tighten and produce a higher pitched tone. Have a look at our bodhrán care tips to help get the best tone from your new bodhrán: https://blog.mcneelamusic.com/top-tips-for-caring-for-your-bodhran/ This is a great starter bodhrán, so with practice you might want to upgrade? If you do plan on upgrading down the line, please do not hesitate to contact us at service@mcneelamusic.com if you have any questions.
