About The Maker:
The first Clarke tin whistle was invented in 1843 in Coney Weston, a tiny village near Bury St. Edmunds, in England.
The creation of the tin whistle was inspired when Robert Clarke, a farm labourer, asked a blacksmith to help him to copy the design of his wooden whistle, but crafting it instead from tin plate. using this new material. The new tin whistle played so well that Robert decided to start a business manufacturing them.
Clarke heard that there were big opportunities for manufacturers in Lancashire, so he and his son walked the long distance from Coney Weston to Manchester, pushing his tools and materials in a wheelbarrow. On the way he stopped by at village markets and made tin whistles to sell, which proved to be very popular among the villagers.
When he reached Manchester, Robert set up his factory in a shed. He called his tin whistles ‘Megs’ - a Victorian nickname for a halfpenny, as this is how much he charged for them - and soon became a successful manufacturer.
Clarke eventually made so much money that, in addition to building two houses, a factory and a church in the nearby village of New Moston, he returned to Coney Weston with his new found riches and bought the farm that he had previously lived and worked on.

This is my first time buying a penny whistle(correct term?) and it plays very well. The Clarke celtic whistle green has a nice feel and a nice sound. I just got thru the book I got to learn to play all the notes correctly when I had to schedule surgery for my hand. It will take time before I can play again, but I enjoyed learning to play this whistle

Hi Norma, We sincerely apologise for the frustration and disappointment you experienced with your order. After reviewing the tracking details again, we now realise that both packages were marked as "delivered," but in fact, they were returned to the sender. This was our mistake, we can confirm that you were already refunded for the first order, and we are now processing the refund for the second one as well. We completely understand how upsetting this situation must have been, especially as it was meant to be a Christmas gift for your son. Please know that this was never our intention, and we truly appreciate your patience and understanding. If there’s anything else we can do to make this right, don’t hesitate to reach out. Kindest Regards, Emma.
