Traditional Irish Tin Whistle Tutor
Geraldine Cotter, herself an outstanding performer and teacher of the Irish Tin Whistle has set out to produce a truly complete instruction book, incorporating all important aspects of the instrument.
Geraldine's own research has brought her into the homes of many of the legendary whistle players such as Micho Russell and many others.
The student is guided through all forms of traditional Irish music with its typical variations, ornaments etc.
An appendix of no less than 100 tunes, consisting of Jigs, Reels, Hornpipes, Set Dances, Slow Airs and other pieces will give the user an important first source of repertoire, while these same tunes will be welcomed by already accomplished players, as many are here in print for r the first time and others are unusual versions.
A tin whistle in D-tuning is the required instrument to be used with this tutor.

This Is the Book You Want! Good, basic and intermediate techniques to learn the tin whistle. With the CD, it is as though an instructor is sitting beside you. Well worth the money.

Helpful Guidance My experience so far is that working steadily and carefully through this material is likely to provide a sound basis for first playing and then expanding one’s ability with this fascinating instrument.

Good book. I'd have a lot easier of a time if I could read music better. I'm more of a 'play by ear' type of person. I'm a bellows blown bagpiper, and it's a wonder I was ever even able to pick up piping with my level of musical illiteracy. I'm gifted with musical abilities, except for when it comes to actually reading the music, I tend to feel like a German trying read Arabic. But that's more my fault than the fault of the book itself.

The book is lovely and descriptive enough for a complete amateur. The CD that accompanies it will show just how bad you are at learning the instrument!!!! Thank you I love it.
