Hi Folks, I bought this whistle months ago. I took on board all the warnings about not starting with a low, but getting used to the high first. I made good progress with the high, and felt it was time to move on to the low, chiefly because I live in a flat, and the piercing tone of the high carries. This thing has a mind of its own. I can pick it up one minute and achieve a low 'D' (the hardest note to get clearly), I pick it up a minute later and that note seems impossible to achieve. Also, the higher octave sounds harsh and is not a very attractive sound. I've gone as far as warming the blessed thing before trying to play it, and taped up all the holes with duct tape, to make sure that it wasn't leakage around the fingers that was causing the problem - no difference! For the bottom D it seems that a very faint breath is the key, but this is difficult to gauge and maintain. Does anyone ever manage to play one of these things proficiently? Seriously! Any tips you could give me would be appreciated. Thanks, Dave.
