Kildare Model Whistle - a popular 'session' pennywhistle. Kildare model whistles have separate head and body-sections with a slightly tapered bore. The pitch can be easily adjusted by pulling jointed sections in or out as needed.

“Susato S-series in 'B'. Couldn't find a whistle in B anywhere else which is a pity as E and C#m are useful keys. Anyway the whistle is nicely in tune with itself and allows plenty of adjustment with the movable head. The tone is quite different to other whistles that I have, I think the fundamental is quite strong giving it a smooth rather than 'reedy' sound (a bit recorder-like). It's quite loud. The bell note is a slightly weak and you have to be careful not to break into the second octave - but probably no worse that other whistles. The finish is glossy but not slippery. General quality is good. Comes with cork grease and a case. The case is too short to hold the whistle without taking the head off - I less generous person would dock half a star for that.”

“Just bought the Susato Penny Whistle in D. very loud play, which is nice! finally a whistle you can really blow without going shrill. you can also blow soft, but i have the tendency to blow somewhat harder during the play. and this one can stand it. Wonderful. Nice low sounds too and the thumbthingy really helps to have it always ready to pick up and play. I'm sold. xxx”
