“I have used these seeds (about 500gm) to create a meadow in our old orchard. It has worked well and i recommend everyone gives it a go! Here in Devon this old farm property has been used for grazing for hundreds of years - and the grass dominates as a result! I have found the yellow rattle does an amazing job suppressing the grass - and the other wild flowers then have a chance. For me this is the big thing - I tried for 15 years in Yorkshire to make meadow using plugs... Little joy as no yellow rattle. I have found that in successive years more and more of the perenials become noticeable - so don't be concerned if you don't see all the species in year one. Meadowmania are also helppul if you need advice. We have a native hogweed patch which I'm trying to reduce - and have debated whether the yellow rattle is the reason for it becoming noticeably smaller since the rattle was sown. Their jury is out, but I'm convinced! You will need to prepare the ground before sowing. I cut the grass really short, and chopped up the area using my tiller. No doubt there are better ways! But this worked . You will also need to cut and remove the hay each year. When you do this you'll understand why cider was once so popular in Devon. I have now sown another wild flower patch of 200 sq metres in our field. Reports to follow... I have also bought a few plug plants as an experiment. I'm hoping to see some cowslips in spring! And if you have horses do look at their seeds for equestrian uses. These are highly regarded - and my daughter is going to be trying some of these if she can pursuade the large stables to let her seed some paddocks as a trial.”

“These wildflower seeds never fail, we scattered them onto our small allotment, and wait for the magic to commence. The beauty of wildflowers is you don’t have to do much, they normally get on fine doing their own thing, though this Summer was another hot one, so they had a little help. I love them, and so do the all important pollinators.”
