“Come appassionato di orologi e attento osservatore del mondo dei microbrand, ho imparato a riconoscere quando un segnatempo riesce ad avere un’identità propria. Il Sceptre Commander di Marloe Watch Company è uno di quegli orologi che, pur muovendosi in una fascia di prezzo accessibile, riesce a trasmettere carattere e coerenza progettuale.
Ho sempre avuto un debole per gli orologi militari: mi affascinano per la loro essenzialità, per quella funzionalità senza compromessi che mette la leggibilità e la robustezza al primo posto. Il Commander incarna perfettamente questo spirito, ma lo fa con un tocco personale. Non è una semplice reinterpretazione di un field watch classico: ha un suo linguaggio estetico, fatto di linee decise, quadrante ben strutturato e dettagli che raccontano cura e intenzione.
Dal punto di vista proporzionale, trovo che sarebbe stato perfetto con uno o due millimetri in meno di diametro. Una leggera riduzione lo avrebbe reso ancora più versatile e vicino ai canoni più tradizionali dell’orologio militare. Detto questo, sul mio polso da 18 cm rimane presente ma mai eccessivo: si fa notare, mantiene una bella presenza scenica, ma resta comunque piacevole e ben bilanciato nell’uso quotidiano.
La qualità percepita è in linea — se non superiore — alla sua fascia di prezzo. Cassa, finiture e costruzione generale trasmettono solidità. È un orologio che non cerca di stupire con effetti speciali, ma convince con sostanza e coerenza. In questo senso, lo considero un prodotto più che valido, e personalmente lo preferisco alla nuova versione: trovo che questa iterazione abbia un equilibrio estetico e una personalità più marcata.
In definitiva, il Sceptre Commander è un microbrand military watch riuscito, con un fascino tutto suo. Non è perfetto, ma ha anima — e per chi, come me, ama gli orologi militari con carattere, questo conta più di qualche millimetro in meno.”

“My first Marloe. An excellent watch with great value for money. A timeless design, with a simple, very clear, and attractive dial. I love how the helical fluted bezel integrates with the case. The crown has an excellent grip. The anti-reflective coating is effective. The fine graining of the case gives it an instrument-like appearance that I really like. The short lugs are a great idea for those of us with very thin wrists, and at 16.5 cm, I can say it fits me very well. The perforated blue leather strap looks fantastic. The purchase process was straightforward, the shipping was incredibly fast, and the packaging was absolutely perfect. I will definitely buy from this brand again.”

All three of these watches exceeded my expectations, looking better than any online picures. The quality of the watches and straps are evident and the value for money is excellent compared with other brands. I purchased the Sceptre with the perforated navy leather strap which goes with it beautifully. Ideally would have gone for the navy silicone strap but have had adverse reactions to similar straps in the past; maybe take a gamble later on and buy the navy silicone from the extensive range of optional straps, another good selling point.
