“Ownership was not planned. I must have had 20 watches in my life, and with the exception of a Citizen chronograph that I left in Nagoya, missed none of them. Fast forward to Christmas '23 and I was gifted some £ by my father-in-law and thought to buy something that would be permanent. I set about looking at all the internet sites I could see, set a budget of £100, then increased to £150, then £200, then £250.
I found nothing. I gave up.
My good wife however carried on in the background and found a review of Marloe in some website. British Brand (I'm a passionate manufacturer @ heart), off the beaten track, good looking. "I'm in".
It did not take me long to find a Coniston as being an Aerospace engineer, have always followed the kind of subjects that Marloe do so well. The K7 story intrguiged me but as it is not current went for the CN4.
Ordered and also got a nice extra of a free strap. The experience is astounding. Oliver and his team are responsive like you used to remember. Gordon and his stories and inspirastion chimed with me ass well.
Watch arrived. Goopd packaging, nice booklet - the experience is building. The Coniston was running well at first, then lost some time, but now 2-3 weeks on, has settled down, gaining ~1 or 2 secs per day.
It is commendable that such a nice looking piece can be had with evidence of good quality, attention to detail and attractive at the same time.
And like all peacocks, it has that aura of exclusivity, that I like. We ordered #275 because that was my father-in-law's designation when he was in the police, so yes, my Marloe is a treasure
Epilogue.
Joining the owners FB site is terrible ! I'm now looking at all the new Marloe's I do not really need, but certainly desire - and the community is great.
