“Due to the price I was expecting plastic, but they were just for the soffits high up outside my back and front doors, so I considered that it wouldn't matter too much. I was absolutely delighted to find the lights were metal and glass. I had seen some other metal and glass ones, that were around £50! The frame on mine is a matt black painted finish, very smooth, and the glass is a gorgeous sturdy frosted and ribbed bowl, and I have to say, looks a lot more expensive than they were. Because they are bowl shaped, they give off a fair amount of light. There was no hole in the rim, and over my backdoor, the wire had to go through the rim, so my partner drilled a hole, which has worked well. We didn't need the extra hole for the front door, as the wire was in the right place on the soffit to go through the manufactured hole in the back of the base. I was replacing existing oval bulkhead lights, that have lasted over 26 years, so they did well, but were well past their best, hence the wiring was pre-existing. I am thrilled with these lights, though it was hard work going up and down the ladder repeatedly, as I'm booked in for a new hip! They are worth it though, and I'd happily recommend them to anyone wanting new outside lights (come to that, they could go inside too?).”
