The Gunpowder Plot Immersive Experience Reviews

4.6 Rating 2,236 Reviews
This is my second immersive experience, the first being War of the Worlds which we really enjoyed. I felt this one was lacking something. The VR headsets I used didn't seem to be focusing correctly and whilst on the boat on Thames one minute, the next minute we were flying though the air, not sure what that was about. The stages seemed rushed but can understand how the actors have to get from one area to another to save delaying the next party. Maybe space the times out slightly more. We were booked for 14.40 as a three but we're pulled forward into a group of 14 in total. If we had been left where we were, we would have been with another 6 people which was a better size group. Bit disappointing it wasn't up to scratch.

Overall this is a good experience with plenty of highlights. Good sets, strong immersion into the storyline with ever-heightening tension, and a great cast. A particular nod to Eshy Moyo, who brought gravitas to his performance as the Catholic Priest during our experience. My issue with the experience lies with the confrontation scene. The actor playing Guy Fawkes uses a voice recording of Tom Felton's voice, which is very obvious and limits the actor's ability to match the intensity of the actors present in the room. It was so jarring it ruined the immersion into the story and, due to the importance of the scene, cast a shadow over the whole production. I think sadly this is not a fixable issue.
