“It is a fascinating yet curiously grotesque depiction of a perceived underclass who at the time were largely forgotten and dismissed by society. The front central male figure appears to speak to the viewer and seems to be pleading for help while the children appear to display their innocence of the despair surrounding them without appearing to be deliberately malicious in there attitudes. The fact that they are grouped together intensifies their isolation from society which is added to by the industrial working background of which they appear to be excluded. The church in the back ground suggests some degree of help and sanctuary.”

“The quality of the print was fine but we thought, given the size of print we had ordered the paper was a little brittle. A small tear and a couple of creases appeared while unwrapping the print but the final framed product was pretty good.”
