This high quality print is based on a watercolour on paper entitled 'Iris monspur' attributed to a Miss Williamson. One of a bound volume of 35 paintings of Iris made for Ellen Wilmott (1858-1934) which are likely to be varieties from Wilmott's Essex garden, Warley Place. Warley Place was famous for its vast plant collection but became derelict when Wilmott died. This painting is dated 4th July 1905.
