“This is essentially a happy painting encapsulating a beautiful summer's day on the Mediterranean coast. The sea and sun at its heart are enhanced rather than subdued by the framing of strong tree shapes and sharp green vegetation. The muted colours colours and soft outlines of the little town develop a strong and sharper focus as one moves back from the painting”
