Mark Rothko Untitled 18, 1963 Abstract Expressionism Art Print Reviews

In 1947 Rothko began to paint a collection of purely abstract works that would establish the artist as one of the biggest names in 20th century art. The works, dubbed multiforms by critics, show large blocks of soft edged rectangles merging. Generally composed of two or three contrasting yet complementary colours the works are designed to overwhelm the viewer, expressing feelings of intense emotion. For Rothko the purpose of art was not to display an experience but rather be an experience in itself, and it is in these works that the artist's philosophy is best displayed. This print is an excellent example of the style of painting with which the artist would become synonymous.

I have purchased a few framed prints from King & Mcgaw now and all of them have been perfect. The quality really is great. If your wondering wether to get this or any of their other framed prints I would just go for it. I’m really happy with mine.

Love this print, which is now the featured highlight in my living room. The orange seems to change colour and become more yellow when the sun is shining. Just gorgeous.

I recently purchased this print as a birthday gift for my mother. Although I was anticipating excellent quality, King & McGaw's product far exceeded my expectations. The colours are beautiful and bright and the paper is clearly high-grade. In sum, I am delighted, especially as these prints are priced so reasonably, allowing us all to enjoy wonderful art in our homes that will be treasured. Thank you!

If the colour of this print is important to you do lots of research. I didn't do enough. The images on the retailer's website show this piece as being almost vivid yellow, like a gloriouse sunrise, when in fact it is more a burnt orange. Still looks great, but not what I had hoped.
