The bike itself is impressively lightweight, which makes it super easy for kids to handle and maneuver. It’s clearly designed with young riders in mind—our children took to it quickly and confidently. They loved the bright colour. One of the standout features is how seamlessly it transitions to a pedal bike. It’s the perfect stepping stone for kids moving from balance bikes to pedaling independently. The intuitive design really helps build their confidence.

Brilliant bike for older child with SEND. Medical condition has meant it’s been difficult to experience riding a bike but this bigger balance bike is brilliant. It’s lightweight & looks great too. Child is 10 & bike is a perfect size (used guide on Kidvelo website and checked with customer services that it would be a suitable size before I purchased). Highly recommend. Big smiles all round here!

The bike is very high quality. It’s fantastic to have an option for older children that are still learning but that doesn’t look or feel ‘young’ . It’s a lovely style that would be appealing to all ages. The bike is very lightweight, making it easy to carry when needed. We haven’t tried the conversion to pedals yet but I don’t think it will be long as our son has wanted to practice every day, he enjoys the bike so much.

We bought an 18" bike from Kidvelo for our 5-year-old son based on their recommendation—and it’s been a game changer. The support, fast delivery, and helpful documentation made the whole process easy. After struggling with a heavy bike with stabilisers that knocked his confidence, switching to Kidvelo’s balance-to-pedal design reignited his interest and progress. Within weeks, he was confidently balancing again, and soon he’ll be ready for pedals. This isn’t just a quality bike—it’s helped our son rediscover the joy of riding. Thank you, Kidvelo!

Pedal bikes are just too frustrating for our SEN child, who struggles with balancing and moving the pedals at the same time. We bought the Rookie 18" bike as a Christmas gift and it has given our child their confidence back and a new love of bike riding. With the option of adding pedals later on, this is such a great product.

We purchased the rookie 18 for our 5 year old after her confidence was shook when the wheel from the 'toy bike' we purchased kept loosing grip on corners resulting in a tumble. A few weeks as a balance bike to get use to the bigger frame size and she was flying with pedals. Will be purchasing the rookie 14 now as our son is out growing the 12inch and ready for pedals.

Very good - fabulous bike - very light weight and great size for my child with special needs who can't manage a pedal bike but has grown too big for the average balance bike. The only thing I don't like is the handle bars don't seem to be height adjustable
