One Bike for Learning to Balance and then Pedal The Rookie 14 is a convertible balance-to-pedal bike designed to support your child through both stages of learning to ride. They can begin with the pedals removed to master balance, steering and braking, then progress to pedalling on the same familiar bike. Buying one bike for both stages can also save you the cost of replacing a traditional balance bike with a separate lightweight pedal bike. As road.cc noted in its Rookie 14 review, “you can quite legitimately argue it’s two bikes in one.” We sell directly to families, which helps us keep Kidvelo bikes as affordable as possible without compromising components or build quality. If you need help setting up or converting your bike, you will also receive friendly customer support directly from the Kidvelo team. For added peace of mind, every Rookie 14 comes with our 30-day, no-quibble money-back guarantee and a lifetime warranty on the frame and forks. The Rookie 14 has air-filled tyres with Schrader valves—the same type used on car tyres. You will need a bike pump suitable for Schrader valves to keep them correctly inflated. Need help choosing? Our Complete Balance Bike Guide covers everything parents need to know, or use our Kids Bike Size Guide to find the right fit.
