Our stay at The Georgian House was good. We enjoyed it and the house and surroundings were very pleasing. The house though is not well enough equipped for self catering for 15 people (let alone more). There are several points that let it down. The showers on the first floor are inadequate - the pressure is just not good enough. The boiler room is not well enough insulated and so much heat seeps out - even with the door closed at all times - which (even in the winter) makes the basement too hot. There are many heating and hot water pipes under the floor / walls in the small double on the first floor which also makes this room unbearably hot at all times. The kitchen is simply not equipped for self catering for large numbers. The equipment that is there doesn't work - eg the electric whisk. There were only poor or fairly offensive novelty corkscrews, there is a mishmash of crockery / baking trays / utensils etc. Not enough oven space for such large numbers, nor dishwasher space - there should be 2 dishwashers available to guests. One dishwasher for 14 is insufficient. The dishwasher which had just been replaced prior to our arrival had no door on the integrated appliance which meant it was really very dangerous and the door was not weighted properly and could easily have injured someone - especially a child. Luckily we were catered for 4/5 days of our week long stay. Without the kind use of the caterers equipment which they left for us, we would never have been able to cook Christmas dinner for 14 on Christmas day. Also several of the chairs in the kitchen were broken. The standard of crockery and cutlery was shocking - catering style basic glasses - as if in a cafeteria - in such a beautiful dining room was an appalling cheap way forward. Given we were trying to enjoy good wines this was very disappointing. There was not enough pleasant crockery to lay the table beautifully, which really should be a given in a house like that. There were several things which seemed petty in such a grand setting - including not providing better than cafeteria style cutlery, crockery and glasses. Also only providing 2 baskets of logs on an estate that must have ample supply of logs - enough for one days worth of fire seemed mean spirited. Also, with only one key to the kitchen door it was difficult to make arrangements for the caterers to let themselves in to prepare breakfast for us. Again - this just seems petty and unthought through. I appreciate that with short term lets things get broken and lost all the time but after an initial outlay to equip the kitchen and dining room properly, with good but not exquisite cooking equipment, crockery, cutlery and glasses, the on going costs would be minimal. A simple inventory taken at the start and end of each stay and any breakages paid for through the deposit you already take, would only increase your on going costs by a small amount - maybe a couple of hours of extra work for a manager per rental period. You would just need to choose good quality but plain and replaceable items that will always be readily available or will have very similar items readily available if those designs go out of stock. We did very much enjoy our stay but these things left a slightly sour taste. These comments are meant by was of constructive criticism so that you can consider improvements rather than as a merely negative jibe. The catering company we used - Fingers and Forks - could not have done better. They were excellent and hit just the right tone. I couldn't recommend them highly enough. They are a GREAT asset to the house. Many thanks. Fiona

Beautiful house and grounds.Great time was had by all.Fishing was excellent. However I do think a handrail is required on the stairs leading down to the lower ground floor.

The house and grounds were immaculate and it was excellently equipped, with everything one could possibly need. Altogether we were most impressed and greatly enjoyed the entire week-end.

We were very impressed by the house and the way our visit was organised. Our family group (aged 2 to 75) were unanimous in their praise. Everything was very clean and the kitchen was well equipped. One very small minus - there were not enough coat hangers. The house and grounds are lovely and there is plenty to do on site, especially in good weather.

Thank you so much for your review. I have forwarded this onto the owner and she has said she has personally ordered 40 new hangers. I hope you and your party had a great stay at The Georgian House. Jessica, Head of Client Services
