“I felt the course really was time consuming and was difficult - It took a full day to complete. There are so many fire extinguishers and it is so hard to remember. There must be a more simplified way of teaching someone.”

There are indeed a lot of extinguishers and it matters which one you use. So perhaps the most important advice is to read the label before you activate one.
