Freeview Play Recorder FVP-5000T 2TB (Refurbished) Reviews

3.9 Rating 31 Reviews
Upgrade from fvp4000t 1tb. Four years old so upgraded before it dies. Plus double the capacity. Almost identical machines. Still lacking ability to add useful apps. Can't delete the old humax compulsory and useless apps.

Excellent condition and fast delivery. So easy to setup and programme, can watch and record up to three programmes at the same time.

The unit was well presented, no scratches or anything, but the main reason for getting one of these was the catch-up features, unfortunately, they didn't work. Spent a long time thinking I'd done something wrong in the set up so tried again several times but nothing. Eventually contacted support who said it was a problem with their website used for the catch-up features and they were expecting a fix in the next month. I felt this was unreasonable so asked for a refund. Fortunately, the process to return the box was painless but I had to wait three weeks to get my money back in my account.

Far more reliable than my old TalkTalk box; much quicker to start up and wifi connection seems very reliable. We have had a couple of occasions where it hasn't correctly worked out the correct end time of a recorded programme and so failed to record the whole programme . The 'on' light is insignificant so it's hard to tell is the unit is on. Start up time is faster than the TalkTalk box but still not as quick as you'd imagine digital equipment could be.

A good comprehensive STB and recorder but I was disappointed that it does not have the capability for very slow speed playing at down to 1/8 speed as did my earlier model.

Have purchased more than one recorder from Humax, all were as new refurbished, I could not tell from new, This unit lacks the program description that I have been used to, also taking a while to understand the system of screens as it is very different from my others Humax's. Also the remote works both the new and the old unit that I am still using to play back my historical unwatched recordings, bit of a bother as it then also sets recordings at different times on the old unit when I set up programs to record on the new unit.
