I had Sky for a while, then was without it. I really missed the pause \ FF \ rewind \ record facilities so opted for Humax. I love it now I can do all those things again and the HD is better than an ordinary screen. Another plus is that once you've paid for it, it's yours for ever, whereas Sky tv costs every month and you're tied in to a contract for at least 18 months. The downside is that there is a slow response time when pressing the guide button or the recordings button. It's not as fast as Sky. Also, the guide comes up on top of the picture of the channel you are watching and the print is quite faint, so it's hard for my ageing eyes to see it all clearly. Time will tell if I decide to keep it or revert to Sky.

Has some good new features compared to the previous model. Some very useful things have been lost. The main one is the loss of the i button. With this one could get a lot of information about a program being watched and also about programs in the guide while continuing to watch a program. The new system assumes that you want information then you must want to watch it. Another loss is the ability to jump forward in steps of a preset length. Also -WHY MOCHA? With other black equipment it just looks like dirty, dull black.

It is a good unit and fairly easy to operate. There is one niggle, however. The status led which tells you if the unit is on - off - or recording is underneath at the front and can't be seen. Why on earth is it there?
