“I had my old HDR for over 10 years without compaint, it worked well until Humax just shut off the updates and one day it just didn't work. I bought the new box based on my previous experience for about the same price as the old one way back when! The new box is smarter, quicker and much smaller. Two gripes, there is no viewing panel on the front compared with the old one where you could see instantly which channel you were viewing, OK yeah, you can punch up or down on the channel button, but it's a failing, also, there is not a visable pilot light on the front, well there is, but it's tucked away underneath the front of the box, so if you're not near it and standing up to see the reflection, you can't see it, a stupid idea Humax and mean. Overall, I like the new box and recommend it.”
“This was a replacement for our old box, which had stopped recording. It was easy to set up, just have a few problems with recording, but gradually getting used to it. It took me ages to realise that there is a light on which shows when the box is working, was used to the display on the front, which this does not have, just a light which comes on at the bottom and changes to blue once the box has picked up the signal.”
“The recorder is an excellent unit for the price.Only two gripes for this unit.Number one is why has the designer put the red/blue off and on light at the very bottom of the unit and approx one inch towards the back of the unit from the front.When the light is on it cannot be seen at all.Very very odd design.!!. I would love to know why this was done? Put it on the front please where it can be seen.Number two is I would like to extend the record time by a few minutes either way manually as some programs start slightly early and you can miss the very beginning or end.Other then this this unit is well worth the money. “A good freeview recorder. Easy to setup with pictorial guide. The recorder will hold hours and hours of films and to record complete series is very easy just 1 click. Very pleased with purchase.
Initial switch on time takes between 30 to 60 seconds which is a bit long sat waiting for programmes to start - only reason for 4 not 5 stars.”
